This was a game made for 48 hour the ICT Summer 2020 Gamejam with the theme “The World is Ending”. A split-screen 4 player game made in a team of 5. I was the leader and programmer of the project.
Each player would be able to play via one of the 4 controllers we had setup at the booth. The game would randomly select a character out of the possible 5 characters.
|Cthulhu||Uses an Orb Gun that fires long lasting powerful projectiles on to the map.|
|A Big Cat||A faster character who uses a rapid machine gun to keep the horde at bay.|
|Old Man||Equip with a powerful pulse rife that can easily take out the big baddies. Also equipped with a barrier gun to keep those fast moving zombies away from this frail character.|
|Grim Reaper||Has a flamethrower that does a lot of damage up close. A powerful weapon to clear zombies clustered together.|
|Penguin||The support character that has a blow gun that can blow zombies away and does very little damage. Also has a heal gun that can heal other players, yourself, and even the zombies.|
The game had friendly fire at default so not only did you had to worry about the enemy zombies, other players can accidentally shoot you. Likewise the penguin had a projectile that did negative damage, meaning it could heal you and even the zombie.
The game had a trouble start with Unity failing to connect through google’s oath servers so it took a bit to get started. The scope of the game was also very large resulting a lot of planned features missing. This was the biggest team size I had to manage and was a lot more difficult than I thought but the experience was worth it. Unfortunately we didn’t place understandably. We didn’t get to compile and test play the game till the last 10 minutes of the gamejam so there were many bugs in the first version.
All in all, I am very happy with the project. Many people seemed to enjoy the game despite its short comming ands it was a very fun project overall. This won’t deter me from being in another larger group and instead I’m already planning to be in another large group for the next ICT GameJam this coming summer.
